Learn how to improvise in any major or minor key using 2 movable scale patterns! Once you master this system using pentatonic scales, you can apply it to the diatonic, blues, and harmonic minor scales to play in virtually any musical style. This approach works flawlessly for both advanced players and beginners.

Day 1: E String Scale
Day 2: A String Scale
Day 3: Open Scales
Day 4: Flavor & Style
Day 5: Choose Your Scenarios
Bonus: Blues & Diatonic Scale Charts

When you have mastered this simple system using these 2 pentatonic scale patterns, you can apply the same logic to the blues scale, diatonic scale, and harmonic minor scale depending on the musical style or vibe you’re going for.

Step 1: Find your note
This method relies on being able to find any note on the low E string or A string. Simply count up the string from the open note (E, or A) until you get to the note you’re looking for. The instructions will show you exactly how to do this.

Step 2: Place the Scale Pattern
Once you have successfully found your note on the low E or A string, simply slide the relevant scale pattern to that note. If you are playing a minor scale, place your index (pointer finger) on that note (shown by the yellow note on the scale diagram). If you are playing a major scale, place your pinky on that note (the orange note on the scale diagram). The guide includes both scale charts and instructions on how to use them.

“The greatest thing about guitar lessons with Miles is that he doesn’t start with scales, or reading music, or tuning your guitar — he just starts wicth a simple love of music. My son and I had lessons with him for two years, and Miles always asked what we were listening to and formed lessons around that. He’s as nice as anyone can possibly be, more patient than I could ever be, and a fantastically gifted and disciplined guitarist. So it’s just fun to be around that, and his love of music is contagious.” – Neal

“Miles is a fantastic teacher. I didn’t pick up a guitar until I was a “40-something.” Miles helped me get to the point where I’ve got a couple songs nailed down and recorded. If you have ever wanted to play, look no further … Miles is the person to work with.” – Matt

“Retirement has given me the time to learn to play the guitar. For the past two years, I have been fortunate to have had Miles as my instructor. He is an excellent teacher who has the knowledge and patience to teach guitar to students of any age. I am very impressed at his ability to listen to my favorite songs and immediately put them into the written style that I can use to learn the songs. Miles has accommodated my schedule and my wishes for the style of guitar music I want to learn. I have no reservations in recommending Miles as an instructor for any age level and for any ability level that students of the guitar may currently possess.” – Bob K.
